My Journey through Philmont as a Ranger

Come Along for the Journey

In the summer of 2025 I embarked on a unique journey. I became a Ranger at Philmont Scout Ranch in NM, helping Scouts and Scouters make the most of what I hoped, and believed, would be an experience of a lifetime for them. This was the website that I used to document my experiences, capturing my memories and sharing with anyone who wanted to know what I was doing, where I was, and maybe even a bit of what I was thinking!

I've returned home to NC, but will continue to have the occasional blog post as I catch up on things I thought would be fun to share.

The role of a lifetime

The Ranger Department was created in 1957, and while there have been many changes, the fundamental role remains the same.

    Find Me

A relatively live update of where I am, and where I've been, in the backcountry. Not much to see until I actually get there, but some training hikes might be viewed, eventually.
